How to Identify Acne Acne appears as little pink bumps in most patients but some teenage patients especially in the early teen years will experience blackheads and whiteheads which are the early black pores that are visible and many adult women experienced cystic acne which is a deeper kind of inflamed acne which may lead to scarring and discoloration especially in darkly pigmented patients. In adult patients we may also see the acne rosacea component the flushing and blushing which may lead to persistent and large blood vessels and thickening of the skin permanently.
