Difference Between Dates Difference between dates, so in this problem we have part A which tell us to find the end date so here we have our start date which is September 9th and then the elapsed time is 20 days and we have to find the end date okay. All right so we know that the start date is September 9th okay. So here we are September 9th. Now we’re going to use September 9th as the first day and then we are going to count twenty days including the start date okay? So if I count 20 days including the start date and I keep counting on my calendar 20 days. Twenty days from September 9th will be September 28 so the end date is September 28 so our end date is on the 28 of September okay. All right lets move on to our 2nd part, part B. So here we are looking at elapsed time. So it’s telling us that our start date is September 9th and then we need to know the elapsed time if the end date is October 14. So how much time has passed from September 9th to September 14? So here we have our calendar for September and then we have our calendar for October. So our start date was September 9th. So we started on September 9th and then our end date was October 14 okay. So we need to find the number of days or the elapsed time between the start date and the end date. So we are going to begin with our start date and then we are going to count the number days until the end date on October 14 so I'm going to go ahead and count including my start date. So I'm going to count all my days on the calendar from the start date all the way to my end date which is October 14. So when I count all these days and I end on the 14 I counted 36 days. So we have an elapsed time is 36 days okay. Now 36 days could also be written one month and six days. So we have a few time facts here to help you keep in mind what equivalents are. So seven days is equal to one week, 28 to 31 days is a month about four weeks is one month, 12 months is a year. 52 weeks is a year, 365 days is one year. 366 days is one leap year, 10 years is a decade, 100 years is one century and 1,000 years is one millennium. Remember to keep in mind that we count elapsed time from the start date to determine the end date. So just like what we used in number one we count the elapsed time from the start date to find the end date. To find elapsed time like we had to do in part B, we count the number of days between the start date and the end date. Also remember that a millennium is a thousand years. A millennium is also equal to 10 centuries. It’s also equal to 100 decades okay and a millennium is also equal to 1,000 years. Now a century all right, is one hundred years and also equal to 10 decades all right and then one decade is 10 years psed time from the start date to determine the end date.
