Josey Miller: Looking for organic ways to fight the flu. Docs say, you'll find the simplest, cheapest flu busters right in your own home, starting with your fridge. Philip M Tierno: Mostly citrus foods and a wide variety of vegetables, have varying amount of Vitamin-C. Josey Miller: Yup, eating well helps keep bugs at bay. And fruits and veggies are vitamin rich, other foods that pack a punch. Philip M Tierno: Milk and cheeses especially those that are enriched with Vitamin-D. Vitamin-D is very important in your immune system. Josey Miller: What else? Philip M Tierno: One of the best thing that you could do is to take in the proper quantity of fluid. Josey Miller: Around 60% of the human body is water. So go with the flow, stay hydrated. Philip M Tierno: Wash your hands appropriately. To the tune of happy birthday sung twice that's about 25 seconds, 20 seconds approximately. And you get in between your digits, you get the top portion and bottom portion of your hands and get under your nail bed as you wash. If you can't get a soap and water, using an alcoholic gel effectively, kills the H1N1 flu as well as other flu viruses. Josey Miller: Exercising improves your circulation and eliminates toxins from your body. And really who doesn't love a good endorphin bus. Philip M Tierno: Certainly exercising, one of the most important things for maintenance of good immune response. Exercising about an hour a day, whether it's walking or doing a Nordic Track, even house work is a form of exercise and doing that about an hour a day is useful. And sexual activity is good it sort of fits in the exercise category and it also keeps everything in tune, so to speak. Josey Miller: Final flu fighting tip, get your yeast. Philip M Tierno: Don't exclude sleep from the picture, make sure you get adequate sleep anywhere from 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 hours of sleep per night.
