Angel Waldron: Hi I'm Angel Waldron from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. I'm here today to talk about how you can distinguish between allergies or a cold or flu. The first symptom that you may notice with allergy is a clear running discharge from your nose. A flu will not look like this. It will be thick and discolored. The most important symptom that will not come with allergy is a fever, or body aches. A flu or cold may both of this. Also, exposure to an allergen will cause symptoms to occur immediately. A flu or a cold may not develop until days later after your exposure to the virus. Allergies can last for a long time, several months even. But a flu or cold will only be around for up to a week. That’s how I see it as a consumer health advocate, but reach out to your doctor, or Google cold or allergy test. Thanks.
