[Music Playing] Amy E: Hello! I am Amy E, I am here with Scissorboy and we are going to be interviewing Fernando Guzman at his studio, Hair Studio 28. Fernando Guzman: So what I am going to do is I am going to make more defined highlights, because the highlight that once she had already that's too thin. I am going to make a little bit more thick highlights to get more lighted on the top, and keep the same color on the bottom, slightly nice and bright color on the bottom. Amy E: Oh yeah it's useful, is this natural, or it's dye? Fernando Guzman: Yeah, no it's not as dye, but I think she did it like about a month ago, but if you look at the color it still have healthy and color on it. Amy E: It's very healthy, and so can you show us the texture and the width of the highlight? Fernando Guzman: Okay, well the texture, I am still just going to have more techniques, easy because she had a long hair. Normally the client they don't want to spend long time at the salon. So what I am going to do is making a big like the chunk highlights, it's going to make you more define at the style, more chunk in style. Amy E: What's important to know about sectioning before you start a highlight? Fernando Guzman: The really important thing to know about this section for the highlights, that's when you are looking her face, it's just kind of within our top color, I mean she is in our top -- she don't brush, she don't use blow dryer too much. I just want to let it carried down. I see it when I avoid the part of the head is over here. Amy E: Right so that's her natural hairline. Fernando Guzman: That's a natural hairline. Amy E: And so you want to highlight based on where the natural hairline is, as opposed to what you think it should go, right? Fernando Guzman: Yes. Amy E: So working with the hair. Your clip sir, Scissorboy has clips, they hold a lot of pair. Fernando Guzman: Okay. Amy E: And what are you using in your bleach? Fernando Guzman: What I am using - I am using a little bit of that violet tone, it gets out when my highlight is turning yellow to orange. So the violet tone is already is here with the pre-liner. So when I check with the highlight this comes with the color already I don't need to work two times, like bleaching first and then tone out, and then color. So all in one, so I am going to set in the back. Okay, the good thing about this section the triangle stuff, because this is going to be my guy, I get it that guy around, about an inch, and this is going to be the whole light highlight as it will go falling all the way down, because if you did a highlight like a zigzag, some of the highlights is going to be disappeared, because the head is not even, some hair is break. Amy E: Yeah. Fernando Guzman: I just want to get a bigger size of the highlight. Amy E: You get the whole chunk. Fernando Guzman: A whole chunk, yeah. Amy E: So you did triangles all around, and then you went in, you found your triangle and that's all you are going to be highlighting, right? Fernando Guzman: All around the triangle. Amy E: Or you are going to do another there? Fernando Guzman: No, it another lap it would be at the top, it's going to be at the top. Amy E: And then down here are you going to do -- what you are doing? Fernando Guzman: I am going leave it in put in the color to make the color even. Amy E: You are going put color and then you are going to color this part, okay. Okay, so what you are doing? Fernando Guzman: So what we are going to do is we are going to apply the color, it's going to be gold - copper-brown. Amy E: So you are going to put gold and copper-brown. Fernando Guzman: And copper-brown. Amy E: In the whole head. Fernando Guzman: In the whole head because we are going to cover the highlights, the rest of he highlights that we are going to cover the thick color to get more bright and more toned. Amy E: Okay. Fernando Guzman: Okay. Amy E: Fernando has washed her hair and blow dried it straight, and I was a bit concerned because secretly I thought he turned her hair gray but -- could you explain that to me again, why it looks a bit -- Fernando Guzman: Okay, you may remember when I started I was telling you I am going to use violet to keep the orangy and yellow away. Amy E: So you put violet. Fernando Guzman: Violet, see violet is turning; it's going close to silver, kind of close to platinum because the pre-lining it's like the bleach with a little bit of violet, it's turning like platinum, blue and violet. Amy E: Because she has got such natural like dark hair, when you put a violet in it brings it to closer to what you want rather than an orange. Now while orange looks good on my shirt it doesn't look so good on the head. Does it? [Music Playing]
