Difference Between Dates So in this problem, it states that the calendars below show your schedule for 2 months. If today is September 24th, how many days is it until your next baseball game? How many weeks? In this problem, we need to find the number of days until the next baseball game. So if we look at our calendar—so the next baseball, if we look at the calendars, the next baseball game is October 11th, so that’s our next baseball game. And today’s date is September 24th. Here we need to count the days from September 24th to October 11th. So if I count, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, so there are 17 days from September 24th to October 11th or next day, or next game. Now we know that 7 days is equal to one week. I’m going to back up just one second—so to answer our first question, how many days is it until our next baseball game? We know that its 7 days. Now we need to find out how many weeks. So to find out how many weeks, we know that 7 days is equal to one week. So now, we need to find out the number of weeks in 17 days. So to find the number of weeks in 17 days, we’re going to subtract 7 from 17. So I’m going to start—so we’re going to subtract 17–7. So we’re subtracting 7 from 17 and we get 10. If we compare 10 is greater than 7 so there are more 7’s in 10 so we can fit another 7 days in the 10 days. So we’re going to take now our 10 days and subtract another 7 and we get 3. And then if we compare 3 is less than 7 so we can't fit another 7 days in the 3 days. So we subtracted two times so that means the number of weeks in 17 days is two weeks. Because we took one 7-day which is one week and another 7-day which is another week so it’s two times and one week per 7 days, so its two weeks. And then three days is what is left over. So how many weeks we take is two weeks and three days until our next game. A few time facts are given below to help with thinking of conversions, so seven days is equal to a week. 28 to 31 days is a month, there's about 4 weeks to a month, 12 months to a year, 52 weeks to a year, 365 days in one year and 366 days in a leap year. So things to keep in mind, is that to find the number of days from September 24th to October 11th, we count the number of days between the dates. Just like we did here, we counted our days. To convert days to weeks, we subtract seven from the number of days and then we compared them. Keep subtracting until the number of days is less than seven. The number of time subtracted gives the number of complete weeks. So for example, 17 days has 2 weeks and 3 days.
