Misty: My name is Misty and I am from Orlando. My eight year old tends to get bullied a lot at school. Do you have any suggestions on how I can handle this situation as a parent? Kevin Everhart: Misty, the most important thing that you can do is support your child, and not blame them. Also understand that bullying is a systematic problem, it's a problem for the whole school, not just for your child. I would suggest that you make an appointment, speak with the principal, speak with the school guidance counsellor or psychologist so that they are aware of what's going in the class. You might also want to seek some help for your child so that they can talk about their feelings, work through any pain if they have experienced, or trauma and help them learn some assertiveness skill so that they can defend themselves.
