Hi, everybody! I am Melanie Raposo and welcome to Mommy's Minute. If you suffer from maternal asthma, the most important thing is to keep it under control during your pregnancy. Besides taking asthma medications, here are some other tips to keep your asthma under control. First, avoid asthma triggers like cigarette smoke, dust mites, and pollen. Secondly, you can measure the strength with which you breathe in and out by using your peak air flow meter. Measure air flow for few weeks and then record your best values. Lastly, be careful in exercising. Although exercise is recommended during pregnancy, it can also increase your risk of an asthma attack. So be sure to speak to your health care provider before engaging in any exercise routine.
