Rhiannon Ally: Jogging is a great way to get back in shape after having a baby and there are options if you would like your little one to come along for the ride. Erika shows us what to look for when buying a jogging stroller. Erika: Hi Shawn! Shawn: Hai Erika. Erika: Good to see you again. Shawn: Happy to see you. Erika: Somehow also your feet looking for running gear and today I have a special request. I need to find myself a jogging stroller. Shawn: We've got lots of good options. Let me show you a few things. Erika: Great, wonderful. Wow! Look, we have here. Shawn: Yes. Are you training for a marathon, what kind of runner are you - 5K, 10K, or beginner? Erika: I'm going all the way, 26 miles. Shawn: Oh! Great. Well, let me show you a couple of features of the strollers. Erika: This is important. I know, I heard a lot about wheels being a big factor. Shawn: That's probably one of the biggest differences between the strollers that you are looking at. Typically, we do have a fixed wheel or you will have a wheel that you could be fixed or spin. Erika: Okay, so let start with this one is this a fixed wheel? Shawn: This is a fixed wheel. So whenever you are running with a stroller you definitely want to have the wheel fixed. Its good safety feature to have the wheel fixed as you run if not you will be all over places you're running. Erika: Ok, other things about wheel. I have read a lot about wheel sizes. Shawn: Correct. Typically, what you'll find is either a 12-inch wheel or 16-inch wheel. Generally, the bigger the wheel, the easier it is to push than the smoother that the stroller will actually roll. Erika: Are they talking about this wheel or they talking about the wheel back here? Shawn: All three actually. Erika: Alright, so these are the three models. I am assuming this one is for twins or multiple children. Shawn: Or multiple children. They don't need to be twins exactly. Erika: And the big jump from this guy to this guy is the... Shawn: Is the difference in the front wheel. Erika: Is this your most popular model? Shawn: That is most popular model, generally because of the versatility of it. Erika: Okay and what else am I missing. What do I need to know? Because I am thinking as much as I would like to get strictly for running, this looks this is my guy. Shawn: Yes. There is couple of other things we have not talked about. Has a great canopy, which gives the child good coverage, sunny windy days, that sort of things. There is a big -- at the window. There is a lot of good safety features and this branded particular bed is very well known for their safety features. First and foremost is a 5 point restrained system for the child. Erika: Okay. Shawn: So that certainly keeps them in place. Another very important safety feature is the safety strap that you would put around your wrist. Erika: Oh. Show me this? Shawn: As you are running. Erika: Okay. Shawn: So, what you basically do is to just put that around your wrist and then is your running, in case you would slip or trip, the whole unit won't get away from you. Erika: Okay, so this is important. There is no actual brake on here other than this. How is that work. Shawn: This particular model does have a hand brake. Erika: Oh, it does. Shawn: And the reason it is able to have the hand brake is because the front wheel is stationary, it cannot be Swivel. There is no way to put a hand brake on that wheel because it has capacity this one. Erika: what are the price ranges? Shawn: This particular model with the stationery front wheel retails for about $300, where as the one with the front wheel that can be locked or Swivel is $390. Erika: I am thinking I am going to go with the revolution. Can you show how to fold this over and then we can. Shawn: Oh yeah. It's really simple. Erika: Okay, you say. Shawn: So just grab the two red handles. Erika: Got it. Shawn: Pull those up. Yeah. And just push that forward. Erika: Okay. Shawn: You got it. This is little red handle right there. Erika: Do I have to release this. Shawn: NO, that is fine done. Erika: Okay. Shawn: Just grab that, if you good -- Erika: That is easy and light. I love it. You know, let's take this outside and see if Jason likes it. For all you joggers out there, this is an excellent way to walk some extra miles and to spend some extra time with your little one.
