Mike: Hi! I am Mike from Dayton, Ohio. I was wondering what's the best place to soothe the crying baby? Dr. Stephen Turner: Well, Mike, if I knew how to calm every crying baby, I'd be the most successful pediatrician of all time. I think the simple answer is you want to do whatever works that's safe for the baby. Here are some suggestions that I have for you. Walking around and holding the baby often time works. A quiet room with some soothing music either classical or maybe nursery rhymes, is a good thing to use. And swing that most parents have or a bouncy seat that you can gently sort of bounce or walk the child. Those things I found to be particularly effective in soothing the crying child.
