Well Barbara suffered an injury when she was child and therefore she said that she had walked with an abnormal gait pattern which is a very common for people without injury that you know with arthritis and other condition. So even though you would think that the problem is in their leg by strengthening your deep core muscles, stabilized your spine you're going in turn provide better balance and can actually affect the way you walk and the way you feel while walking. Pilates are different than other exercises but it not just strengthens your core, it actually works on constant core stability and has a muscled integrate and work well with each other which a lot of general strength during the program doesn’t incorporate. An important point though is that Pilates have not take the place of cardiovascular exercise and for our heart and other benefits we still should engage in activities such as bicycle riding, swimming, running or electrical machine to get the cardiovascular benefits of exercise. Pilates can benefit just about anybody. We use a lot in our overhead athletes and our throwing athletes to have strength in their core to make them better pitchers. Runners who have a weak core and pelvis can benefit from Pilates to decrease lower extremely running injuries. Also we use it in elderly people to help with their balance to decrease the risk of falls. It's very important that Barbara went to the proper training to do Pilates. There are a lot of gyms that offer Pilates and might not have people who are certified to do it, to the right degree and have very large classes. The best way to start Pilates is probably upon very smaller even one on one class of Pilates to help burn to our best exercise specifically for you. Because if you have a previous condition such as the shoulder problem or back problem you may not be able to do all of the exercise and if done in correctly it could actually make your problem worst. Generally it will take a few weeks before you start seeing result from pilates like any workout program there maybe some soreness or stiffness that comes with working muscle you haven't worked before. But if you do it properly and someone is watching you, with in about a month or so you should start to feel some result in your life. Pilates help Barbara because these are the unique exercises that really incorporate reminding their entire body at the form of rehabilitation. It works to strengthen your deep core muscle which internally improves your posture, your balance as well as the entire strength from head to toe.
