Dr. Ann: Today’s health tip is you know what to drink pure clean water. Guess what? People would say to me, you know it’s expensive to be healthy. It was not. Water is free. Water is the body’s most important, most vital essential nutrient and you know what this is water right at the tap, it’s absolutely delicious. In America, most tap water is perfectly safe but you know what if you like the convenience of bottled water and you’re willing to pay other times more than you would for tap water well that’s fine. It’s your choice and again we know that we should be drinking, by and large is water. What about the sodas and the fruit drinks and a few juices? None of them, health wise. There is none of them that can compare to the healthfulness of this water and how much water you need a day. Well you know depends on to how many calories you burn. For every one calorie you burn you need about one milliliter of water. So the average person to say that burns 2000 calories a day needs two liters of water but here is what you have to remember, 99.9% of like any liquid is going to be mostly water so you know your unsweetened tea or your coffee and your water can all fit into that sort of goal and there’s actually a lot of water in food especially healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. So you can generally rely on your thirst. The average healthy person can rely as long how much water they need with the exception of the elderly and really young kids like babies, infants and the other exception that would be if you’re high altitude or you’re doing a lot of sweating. You may indeed need more than your body perceives but by enlarge and the thirst is the pretty dorm reliable guy.
