Carlos: Hi, my name is Carlos I'm from Brazil. I was wondering to know what the symptoms of high cholesterol are. Dr. Leslie Cho: Hi Carlos. Unfortunately there are no symptoms of high cholesterol and often the first sign of high cholesterol is heart attack, stroke or even death. And that’s the reason why it’s so important to get your cholesterol level checked. The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association recommend that you get your cholesterol checked when you're 20 years of age every year thereafter if you have risk factors and every five years if you don’t.
