How Celebrity Women Influence Fashion Trends Rhiannon Ally: Welcome back to our hot topic segment. We have beauty experts Stacy Cox joining us today and we are so glad you stuck around. Stacy Cox: Oh, my pleasure. Rhiannon Ally: Now we were talking Sex and the City it comes on theaters this week we’re all so excited, you showed us some great products. But I have to ask how is this movie going to influence actual fashion or like hair and things like that? Stacy Cox: Well, all when they took off for the dessert and they do all their scenes in Abu Dhabi you’re going to see lots of gypsies inspired flowing skirts and dresses, lots of bangle bracelets like I'm wearing, gold embellishments and then when the movie shifts and does the whole 80’s flash back sequence, Frank Barbosa who did the hair in SJP and did the Carrie hair for the 80’s sequence it’s all about the border line video and Madonna and I was just the Victoria’s Secret shopping around. And I’ll be darned if one of the sales clerks wasn’t supporting the buffy-puffy hair with the big bow a life imitating art. Rhiannon Ally: So we’re going to go back to the 80’s basically, in some aspects. Stacy Cox: It was a horrible decade but so much fun. Rhiannon Ally: Yeah, a lot of fashion in that decade. And I have to ask Lady Gaga also is talking about starting a new line of hats. Stacy Cox: Well thank God. I now, realized and see her and said “I need a hat”. Rhiannon Ally: I need a House of Gaga hat. Stacy Cox: Right, I mean how she is influencing fashion? She is an icon before she was—she’s like, Madonna is an icon and we know that but Gaga is an icon and she’s been a week. And that was such a powerful statement as far as being philanthropic and then as far as moving into the rooms of fashion. She’s spear heading, she sang difference okay, its okay to walk it out and be a little unique. Rhiannon Ally: You just have to wonder how—like in the middle of the country you're going to look rocking some of those outfits. Stacy Cox: It may not translate as well, it maybe more of a coastal, the inspired fashion statement but yeah. Rhiannon Ally: Who are some of the other celebrities that are really impacting fashion right now? Stacy Cox: Oh, I would say women like Halle Berry, women at—singers like Gwen Stefani. Women that have real sense of confidence, a lot of trendier seen musically, are translating very futuristic when you see Gaga and Christina Aguilera with her new music about to drop. Everything is very pushing the envelope cutting edge, have your curves, celebrate your cleavage, have confidence, have presence and has showmanship. Rhiannon Ally: And a lot of people say Christina Aguilera’s in video that she’s copying Lady Gaga a little bit. Stacy Cox: Christina, I’ll say I disagree with that because Christina Aguilera was here a decade before Gaga showed up. So I think it’s about in being inspired by other singers that you admire. I'm sure you know it’s a mutual love fest. I'm sure they both admire each other because they're very, very talented. Rhiannon Ally: They're both extremely talented. Stacy Cox: Yeah. Rhiannon Ally: Now I want to talk quickly about one more thing. Now, we know the Miss USA Rima Fakih. Stacy Cox: Yeah. Rhiannon Ally: She’s the new one and she’s gorgeous. And you with her and celebrities like Kim Kardashian and all this are we seeing a shift in what we’re defining as beauty? Stacy Cox: Yeah, finally thank you, sweet Jesus. I mean the dark hair is back. Rhiannon Ally: The dark hair is back, you look at the cover of glamour magazine the May issue’s got a plus size model along with two leaner models. Crystal who came out with the book Hungry so it is about you can be blonde, you can be brunette, you can be Muslim, you can be Asian, it doesn’t matter it’s about like I was saying having that showmanship, confidence in celebrating you which Kim Kardashian does so well. I think Rima is going to do great at the Miss Universe pageant. I think Venezuela and South America better watch out because we’re coming for you. Stacy Cox: Yeah, Rima is beautiful. Thank you again Stacy for sticking around. We’ll be right back.
