How Boy Scout Experience Informs Conservation Career Erik Michielsen: What do you enjoy most about problem solving? Josep Oriol: Well, I think it goes back to being a child and I still grow enough time in the Boy Scouts. And you know, far from having lots of fun in camping in the bush and wearing a cool uniform. The main takeaway lesson was that I was left with the sense that I had to live this world a better place than I found it. And solving a problem is a wonderful way of doing that. You come to a place like Africa and there are all these problems to be solved. And you put the skills and the knowledge that you’ve learned through the years at work to something that has a sense of purpose and definitely improves people’s lives.
