Dr. Ann: Listen when it comes to your health and body weight, whole grains are awesome. They are right on the hills of fruits and vegetables and some of the most powerful disease fasting foods nature has to offer. Have your bread, have your cereal but be sure when you do it that you choose 100% whole grain to your bodies because you deserve nothing less and because it’s so easy to do. Simply look for 100% whole grain on the package. As an alternative, check to be sure you see the word “whole” listed before any grain on the ingredient’s list. Whole grains are bursting, exploding, timing with health boosting nutrients. Protein, B vitamins, fiber, phytochemicals, minerals and they offer a dazzling array of health benefits including reducing your risk of heart disease, protecting you from Type 2 diabetes, protecting you from several different forms of cancer and helping you maintain a healthy body way. They are delicious. It’s easy to do them, so do it and ideally do two to three servings a day.
