Hey! What’s up? Welcome back to the Guitar Tricks Channel. From guitartricks.com, I’m Neal Walter with a free view lesson of the week, arona rusky. And a tip for the week for you right here. Tip of the week is a tuning tip. If you're stocked with no tuner and no reference point for a note, if you're near a landline phone and you pick it up and listen to the dial tone, hello? Hello? Are you there? That note will be an F. and you can tune your guitar. Didn’t know that, did you? Yeah. Tip of the week. On to our lesson. It’s on harmonics. These things. We’ll show you how to do them and how to use them. Basically, harmonics can be found, the most loudest ones can be found at the 12th fret, 7th fret, and the 5th fret. And the way you get a harmonic is you lightly touch your finger on top of the string right above the fret. Normally, you would fret between the frets. Lightly touch the strings. Strike it and then lift your finger off. You just want your finger to be barely touching the string. You don’t even have to apply pressure, not even. Or if you do a whole bunch in a row, just like that, 7th. Now the cool way you can use this integrated in your playing is at knowing what notes you are hitting right here. So basically these notes right here are the same as if you're going to press down there. So anytime you would use any of those notes in the scale or in a chord, you can substitute that harmonic right there. And add a little extra flavor and possessed to your picking. Also down here on the 7th fret, same deal applies. So if you're playing like a D power chord would fit right into that scale. Down here, on the 5th fret, those notes are the same as these, just an octifier. So if you're playing an open G, you got all the notes of the G chord right there. So you can throw those in. and also E minor is a good one. Top 3 strings are open, as the same as these notes or these. Yeah. Like that intro lick that I used. Going to a D. There are some cool tips for you right here. The harmonics take them with you in using the electric or the acoustic and add them in your playing or as accents to your style. You can use them as a little inflictions and little show off tricks when you're on stage or whatever. So see you right back here in about 7 days. Have a great week everybody. Rock and roll! Acoustic and roll! And lead me a request here on the YouTube channel or check us out at guitartricks.com.
