Katheleen: Hi, my name is Kathaleen. I am from Lansing, Michigan and I was just wondering if it is normal to lose your hair after child birth? Dr. Rick Mizuguchi: Kathaleen, it is normal to lose your hair after child birth because while you are pregnant you actually don't shed any hair, so you have fullest volume and after you have your baby, a couple of months later you start loosing the hair that you retained. If you start losing more than that, you developed a disease called, telogen effluvium and that is not normal and should be treated.
