More than just a one-stop shop for the news and updates that are interesting to you, Google Reader also lets you connect with friends to share stories, see and subscribe to the feeds that they're reading, share stories you find particularly interesting on your public page and even customize your Reader page with themes.

Welcome back to the RSS with Google reader series. Google reader gives you a great way to share what you're reading with your friends as well as to see what they're reading too. Click on the shared settings button, you can find friends from your contacts or invite them by entering in their email address and then sending them an invite. So, these are the people that I'm sharing with on Google reader and these are the people that are sharing with me. Whenever, you want to share an item that you find interesting just click on the share icon in the story and it will then appear in your stuff under your shared items. It will also appear on your public page which is available at this link. You can customize the way your share page looks by selecting one of these themes. Here’s what mind looks like, share this link with whoever you want to have access to your shared items. If at anytime you want to step from scratch, you can move your shared items or clear them by going to your settings and clicking on this link.
