Welcome back to the Twitter for Beginners Series. So, now that you’ve created your Twitter account, it’s time to add some friends to communicate with. There are few ways you can do this. The first option is to search for people from your email contacts lists that may already be using Twitter. Just enter in your email address and choose the service that you use, entering the password associated with that email address. These are all of the people in my address book who are already using Twitter. Just check the box next to the people you want to follow and uncheck the boxes of the people you don’t. And now, it shows that I’m following those people. Following means the same sort of thing as adding someone as a friend or contact. When you follow someone, they’ll be able to in return follow you back so you can communicate your Twitter. You’re then given and option to send invitations to the rest of the people in your address book to join Twitter. Just check the boxes next to the people you want to invite. You can also skip this part. Another way to add friends or follow someone is to simply enter in their email address here and they’ll receive an invitation from Twitter that looks like this. The last way to find friends is to simply enter their name or location, do a search and then just click on follow next to the people you know. If it says send request, then that means they’ve set their twitter stream to private and you can only view what they post to Twitter if you send a friend request and they accept it. You can find out how to set your own privacy levels in the fourth episode in this series. Remember, there are 10 parts to this series so don’t forget to check out the other episodes in the Twitter for Beginners Series.
