A German court ruling Tuesday to ban the circumcision of young boys in Cologne area angers Jews and Muslims.

IMAGE SOURCE: ( Telegraph )   BY ANTHONY MARTINEZ   Jewish and Muslim communities in Germany say their religious rights are being trampled on after a German court ruled Tuesday to ban circumcisions of young boys in the region of Cologne. Here’s Euronews . “... a higher court put a child’s right not to be harmed above religious freedom and the right of parents to decide.” Many look at circumcision as a religious right, but the court ruling does have its supporters. The ban, which this court ruling upheld, was put into place when a doctor circumcised a Muslim boy who later suffered from post-operative bleeding. According to the Sydney Morning Herald ... “...the court found that the child's fundamental right to bodily integrity was more important than the parents' rights. The body of the child is irreparably and permanently changed by a circumcision.'' The Jewish community issued its response to the court’s claims of preventing unwanted ‘assault.’ They’re not buying it. Al Jazeera reports... “The head of the Central Committee of Jews... said the ruling was ‘an unprecedented and dramatic intervention in the right of religious communities to self-determination. … Circumcision of newborn boys is a fixed part of the Jewish religion and has been practiced worldwide for centuries.” According to Der Spiegel , most German men aren’t circumcised. The news site adds —  the country’s medical track record might have affected the court’s decision.   “... Medical experts who provided consultation for the appeal told the court there was no ‘need in Central Europe to perform circumcisions as part of preventative health care.’ Even from a medical perspective, circumcision is largely a question of faith.” Medically-speaking, not a big deal, and for the animators at NMA TV — it’s not to them either. Here’s a look at their lighthearted video response to to the court’s ruling. “A German regional court has ruled that circumcision for religious regions, amounts to bodily harm.
