Here’s WSOC with the story. “Wal-mart will kick off the Black Friday deals earlier than ever starting at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving. That is two hours earlier than last year. Other deals will be staggered through the night.” NBC News reports Walmart isn’t the only store that will be open after the dishes are done Thanksgiving night. “Sears is opening its stores at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, too … Kmart stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., then will close and reopen from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. … Macy’s, Best Buy and Kohl’s all will open at midnight this year.” CNN says these companies are opening earlier because that’s what consumers want. “And national retail federation agrees. Let me show you some numbers. 80% of shoppers they say they'll start shopping before December this year. Get this. 12% started the Christmas shopping before September.” CNBC says some people will feel like they are ruining one of the best holidays of the year. “Sue, there will definitely be pushback by consumers, religious leaders, families and friends for not being able to give thanks on Thanksgiving.”
