Rebecca Fox: Back to school time is an opportunity for your child to bring home report cards, art projects and germs. From sharing drinks to sharing locker rooms, schools create an ideal environment for germs to thrive and cause illness. But you can do your part to limit there spreading, keep your child healthy. Learn the signs and symptoms of some of the most common illnesses. A child who has sneezing has a runny or stuffy nose, itchy or sore throat call for a low grade fever may have the common cold. When the child pulls on one or above years complains of ear pain or can’t sleep or eat an ear infection could be the corporate. A child who is vomiting nor who has diarrhea may suffer from the stomach flu. Several different viruses can cause an infection of the digestive system. A sore throat are often detected by drying this in the throat into a trouble swallowing is the common symptom of a developing viral infection such as the cold or a bacterial infections such as strep throat. If your child’s eyes are watery, itchy or red or they have a stringy discharge it maybe conjunctivitis commonly known as pink eye. Causes for pink eye include the virus and allergic reaction or a bacterial infection. Childhood illnesses are spread in many ways, direct contact with an infected child, eating contaminated foods or beverages or contact with germs in the air or other objects can all cause illness. To help protect your child from illness try some of these tips. Teach your child to wash his or her hands often, in general children should wash there hands before eating, after using the bathroom and after blowing there noses. You may want to send an alcohol base hand sanitizer to school with your child in case a sink is not available. Remind your child to keep hands and toys from his or her eyes, nose and mouth. Help your child to get into the habit of reaching for a tissue when he or she need to cough or sneeze if one isn’t available tell him or her to sneeze or cough into about – like this. Tell your child not to share food or drinks with anyone who is sick and remember if possible avoid close contact with infected children all together.
