Ashley Summers went missing in 2007, and her mother hoped she was among the rescued when Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight were found.

(Image source: )     BY BRIANA ALTERGOTT     Friends started calling Jennifer Summers in Cleveland on Monday night, telling her to turn on the news, and quickly. Three kidnapped women had been found, and there was a chance one of them was Summers’ own daughter Ashley, who has been missing for six years.   But the mother’s hopes were crushed when she didn’t see her daughter on the screen. (Via ABC )   “I’ve been feeling all kinds of emotions. Happy for the girls that were found, very sad that it wasn’t my daughter, wondering when it’s going to be her turn.” (Via NBC)   Ashley was 14 when she went missing in July 2007. According to WEWS , she packed all her clothes and took them with her and called her mother a month after her disappearance to say she was okay, but no one has heard from her since.   Investigators initially thought her disappearance was linked to those of Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus . A special agent in the FBI’s Cleveland office said Ashley went missing just blocks from where the other girls were last seen, and she even went to the same middle school as DeJesus.   “We did in fact believe that there was an association between these cases, the Berry case and the DeJesus case, as well as another case, the Ashley Summers case.” (Via CNN )   But after recent interviews with witnesses in the Berry-DeJesus-Knight case , police determined there wasn’t a link after all.   The false hope took its toll on the Summers family, but authorities are stressing they’re still investigating Ashley’s case and haven’t given up on finding her.
