Jazz Mann: I will be your Indian comic for this evening, which means if any of you need a ride home later my cab is outside. Veronica: This comedian knows how to get the audience laughing, the crowd cheering and the girls giggling. Hi, I am Veronica at watchmojo.com and today we’re chatting with Jazz Mann. Jazz Mann: Jazz Mann is my stage name only because my real first name is pronounced Jazz Beer. So, if you ever forget no liquor, just beer. My agent changed it to Jazz J-A-Z-Z to go with my last name M-A-N-N. It works. It's kind a like Red Foxx. Veronica: How did you get into the wonderful world of comedy? Jazz Mann: My father actually was a sketch stand-up artist in India. He used to tell me these stories about how he used to go into like the lunch hour of universities and colleges with his buddies and they would do this, they would do like sketch routines and they get paid and you know like with a little hat and hand kind of thing and I always found that amusing and there's something inside of me one day just said, you know what give it a shot. Veronica: Your parents are huge inspiration for your set. Do they mind being the butt of your jokes? Jazz Mann: And my dad was so cheap when we were kids, we used to go to McDonalds. He got mad at me for ordering a cheeseburger coz we had cheese at home. My dad, at one point, even though he’s kind been the epitome of my family humor. You know, he at one point, was like why do you have to tell everybody it's me and I'm like what do you mean, what do you want me to do? You know, and he was this tell them it's somebody else. And at the end of the meal he will grab the receipts to make sure everyone got just what they ordered. Coz he did want to over pay, right? So he’ll be like Okay, quarter pounder! Ok good. Veronica: Does your dad really that cheap? Jazz Mann: Oh yeah. Nugget! Nugget! Who ordered this tax. What the hell is this tax? He just then pissed, I don’t like it. Veronica: Now, you’ve done quite a bit of acting as well. Do you prefer performing for the cameras or for the live audience? Jazz Mann: I love both. It someone’s like, you know, you talk to a rap artist who is acting. You know, it's just like do you like music or do you like film? And it's just like two different ways of performing and artistically showcasing yourself. There's one element of live entertainment that’s just so fulfilling and accelerating like right now there's cameras in my face and I love it. This isn’t live we can edit anything. You can bleep me out right now. Beep beep. Veronica: Now, it has different answers when I ask this question, but do you find that performing on stage and being the funny man that you get all the ladies. Jazz Mann: I'm Indian, if I know you longer than two minutes that’s an arrange marriage to my mother right there. She’ll be so happy. “Who is that girl? Veronica? Wow. So, how do we get in touch with her? How’d her folks, how’d her parents. Have them over for tea”. Veronica: It was great having you. Thank you very much. Jazz Mann: It's great being here Veronica. Folks I love my culture, I love being Indian but Indian music to me sounds like landscaping. Check this out.
