Audra Lowe: Everybody out there has a sweet tooth and there's nothing like that midday sugar pick me up but while candy might actually satisfy our taste buds but it could get really, really harm the waistline. So here to discuss the best and the worst options in Candy Land is Animal Bee, she is the contributing editor at Eat This Not That 2010. So this is your fifth edition right. Anna: That's right. Audra Lowe: Welcome to the show. Anna: Thank you so much. Audra Lowe: Again first of I just—this is wonderful this is a handbags on the set candy, candy, candy but the first category that you have over here is it not so bad category were going to start there, right. Anna: Right we don't want to call it the good category because splurging on any of us really going to add extra pounds but they're not so bad is less than 60 grams or 60 calories and no fat. Audra Lowe: And they're all hard candy and that was that. Anna: Yeah, hard candy is actually it's not a coincidence, hard candy is one of our favorite ways to satisfy your sweet tooth because it lasts longer as long as you don’t crunched down on it. The last for awhile seeing kind of feel like you have the flavor of longer and you're going to be more satisfied that way. Audra Lowe” Okay and of course all of my favorites fall right into this category here this is the bad category because there is an abundance of calories, fat everything right? Anna: Well this one isn't as bad as some of them but it's kind of you know it's got about 7200 calories and up to 15 grams of sugar in five grams fat. Audra Lowe: Per. Anna: Yeah per servings so you know a fun sized bag and of M&M or one of this other items. Audra Lowe: There's nothing fun about that no and you think you bite the little tiny ones there's not going to be that many calories but I guess you know reality hits now and last but not least. This particular category of over here surprise me because it's the worst category. Anna: It's the worst it has the kind of the triple threat its high none of calories, fat and sugar. And one of the reasons why it's so bad is very often when you see the kind of gooey, creamy consistency and these kinds of candies. It's because there's a lot of saturated fat and a lot of Tran’s fat as well. Audra Lowe: I'm surprise too especially with the star bars you—I didn't think would have that much fat. Anna: And you wouldn't think that they do but that's how they get to be so chewy. Audra Lowe: So really when you're putting that candy for the kids when they come trick or treating have to be very, very careful. What if you use you say, “I've a sweet tooth I can cut back” do you have tips for people out there, especially for Halloween. Anna: Eat this not that that we never wanted to make feel people feel like they have to be deprived of something that they really want this is going to make you wanted more. So what we recommend is during candy season, during Halloween season if you want to indulge, ones in the season and just have kind of a pig out. Try to limit yourself to 400 calories or less and you can do that a number of ways you can do that by eating you know a lot of, of not so bad category and because they're not so caloric. But one thing that I really like is, is chocolate I think everyone enjoys the chocolate. Audra Lowe: Wait so this would be picking out session right here. Anna: This is the pick out session and I know it seems pitiful but actually after you eat all this you're going to feet satisfied. Audra Lowe: This right here is almost 400 calories just yet— Anna: its about 375 calories about 40 grams of sugar okay so it's, its surprising amount for such a small amount of candy. Audra Lowe: No, wonder parents are watching out because these kids are bouncing off the walls after Halloween after eating all this candy. Anna: that's right. Audra Lowe: Very lightning thank you so much Anna good to see you. Anna: Thank you. Audra Lowe: All right, you guys can see other great ways to stay safe in bean Candy Land or other lands that you might either be eating your way through this pick up a copy of Eat This Not That 2010, which is available now.
