Keisha: Hi! I am Keisha, I am from New York and I just wanted to know the benefits of breast feeding versus using infant formula? Tiffani Hays: Great question Keisha. Breast milk still provides several benefits over formula feeding your infant. Number one it provides the great opportunity for mom and baby to bond and breast milk is always ready when the baby is hungry. There is no mixing involved, there is no heating involved. It also provides immunoglobulins and omega-3 fatty acids that the formulas don't necessarily have in them. Breast milk also adapts to the age of the babies, so there is a difference in the composition between preterm breast milk, full-term breast milk, and six month breast milk.
