THE BAYLOR LADY BEARS HAVE CAPPED THE FIRST 40-0 SEASON IN NCAA BASKETBALL HISTORY BE DOMINATING THE SECOND HALF OF AN 80-61 ROUT OF NOTRE DAME IN THE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AT DENVER. IT'S THE LADY BEARS' SECOND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP UNDER COACH KIM MULKEY, AND THEIR FIRST SINCE 2005.AP PLAYER OF THE YEAR BRITTNEY GRINER OFTEN FACED DOUBLE- AND TRIPLE-COVERAGE YET STILL MANAGED TO SCORE 26 POINTS ON 11-OF-16 SHOOTING. GRINER ALSO GRABBED 13 REBOUNDS AND HAD FIVE BLOCKS BEFORE COMING AWAY WITH MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER HONORS IN THE FINAL FOUR.ODYSSEY SIMS ADDED 19 POINTS AND SEVEN BOARDS FOR BAYLOR, WHICH SHOOK OFF A SOMEWHAT SLUGGISH FIRST HALF AND OUTSCORED THE IRISH 46-33 IN THE SECOND HALF.THE LADY BEARS OUTREBOUNDED THE IRISH 45-24 AND OUTSHOT THEM 50 PERCENT TO 36.SKYLAR DIGGINS HAD A TEAM-HIGH 20 POINTS FOR NOTRE DAME, WHICH LOST IN THE TITLE GAME FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR.
