Hi, I’m Jay Goldman and you’re watching Mr. Mobile on butterscotch.com. Now its that time of year that kids hate and parents love, that’s right its back to school time and if you’ve been in any stores lately, you’ll probably encountered some back to school specials and sales I don’t know about you but every time I see one I start thinking it’s the end of summer, its already fall, where did the year go. But the good news about all this, is there’s some fantastic 00:28 iPhone app. store that can help make this time of year go a lot easier. That’s right. its the back to school episode of Mr. Mobile and today we’re going to take a look at two apps. for the iPhone. One really representing a whole class of application and the other one is quite a specific one that will help that whole back to school time of the year a little smooth. So first of, we’re going to take a look at some SAT prep applications. The SAT is of course being standardized test that American High School Students and a bunch of students round the rest the world right in order to get into universities. There’s a whole lot of test press application available in the apps. store, not just for the SAT’s. You’ll find one for GMAT’s and all kinds of other exams as well. And we’re going to take a look in the app. that actually comes in a free or light version which just has limited vocabulary and then has a 499 full version that has a whole bunch more words. The app. comes from a company called prep whiz and its vocab prep specifically. And the light version has 200 words in it. This are vocab words for SAT exams, so you get sort of flash card experience going through the word, seeing them in example sentence and then the full version has 4700 words which is kind of a full vocabulary of SAT application words. So, if you wanna get the app quick try, download the free one, it is ad supported so you’ll see some 01:37 at the bottom of the screen, just ignore those, And if you want it, enjoy and its the kind of thing that’s going to help you do better in your SAT’s. go and grab the full 01:43. Pretty simple experience when you started up, its going to give you an opportunity to just to take a look at some of those words that they’ve got and you can go through it as you would restore any flash card application on a timer by hitting the play button or just by paging through the words one of a time by striking across the iPhone screen with your finger. One of the neat things about this is you can actually organize words into familiar and new words lists so that you can review those ones when you need to or sort of skip the familiar ones when once you’ve kind of got used to them. So to out a word to a list, you just need to tap on the familiar or new words icons at the bottom of the screen and the word will automatically get out of those list. Not a whole lot of the set-up side of things you can adjust the timing that it goes through the slides and the pause between words and you can also turn-on or off the examples sentences when its going through play mode. So again, download links for that in the show notes up on butterscotch.com. Take a look if you’re prepping for your SAT’s. It’s a great way to do it while you’re sort of sitting on the subway or waiting at the doctors office. Just run through a whole bunch of words and before you know it that would be a part of your everyday vocabulary. The second app that were going to look at is called My Homework, and this is sort of more practical if you’re in back to school mode and your thinking about your classes and all the home work that you’ve going to have to do. It’s a great app for kind of organizing all the classes that your taking and then assigning home work task to them and being able to just go in there and see what’s do and when and what you should have working on. It works a lot like most of the kind of task list applications that are out there with a very specialize focus on schoolwork and homework assignment from classes. And is a free app. you’ll find it in the iPhone approximately store under my homework. Keep in my mind of course that there’s a lots of tasks related apps in there and you might find that just putting your homework into one is kind of limiting when you also have a shopping list from the grocery store and things you need to do around the house. So, if you’re more in that mode consider one of the more fully pledge task list apps like things or remember the milk, remember the milk is actually a very popular web add and they’ve got a great iPhone 03:38 if you just access it from safari in your phone. Things is available for download in the iPhone app store and actually has a Mac version that will sync through wi fi. So if you’re the kind of person who spends a bunch of time at a desktop or laptop and has an iPhone and you want the task list on both, things might be a great thing for you to look until to look at. Now my homework is fantastic for your student and you are in that class mode. So the first thing you want to do is obviously set-up your classes. You can do that by tapping on the little green post-it note sort of things taking out the bottom, and then tapping on the plus symbol at the top of the page. That would put you in adding mode for clause; you just go through and specify information like the title, the course number, somebody optional information and here like the building and room and professor, and a schedule so that you know when that classes are. I don’t know if you like me but when I was in university I can never remember when any of my classes were, so it would really handy to have an iPhone on my pocket that had a schedule, of course I wouldn’t have an iPhone about ten years before they came out but that’s a different story. So once you’ve specified your classes, you can go to the yellow tab and assign homework assignment soon. And once you’ve done that, you can see when those are do one on a day or monthly or schedule. You can get a list of them that kind of works like the iPhone calendar app. surf, you to the calendar approximately you’ll be use to the different list piece that are in there. And when your finish lining up your homework assignments of course you can just mark it as complete and it will come off of your list. So, that’s the two great school apps. I hope they’ll make your school year a little bit more pleasant. I’m Jay Goldman you’ve been watching Mr. Mobile on butterscotch.com. Check out the website for some past episodes.
