Sam Norman: Blooming Marvelous, maternity fashion wear company not only design clothes, but also baby products aimed at making the lives of moms and dads that much easier. Vivienne Pringle, the Co-Founder of the Blooming Marvelous is here today with some of her favorite and also she is to talk about what new parents really need. Welcome Vivienne. Vivienne Pringle: Thank you very much. Sam Norman: Now, we've got a fantastic looking array of things -- Vivienne Pringle: I just also had bring you a few little gadgets, a little baby gadgets that everyone might not have seen before. Sam Norman: I love that. I wish that that I had one. Vivienne Pringle: I know it's not a plastic bowl, which suctions to the table or the high chair, and then you, can suction these two, springy things to here. So, when they're learning to feed themselves, we can just put this here and you can leave them too, you can get some of the washing out bowl, feeding older child -- Sam Norman: Constantly having to retrieve this food from the floor. Vivienne Pringle: Yeah, exactly. They chuck it off the -- Sam Norman: That is so brilliant. Vivienne Pringle: And you can imagine a little person. Sam Norman: I would be ready to stretching from eating, I would have thought. And how much is that? Vivienne Pringle: Its 999 including the bowl kit. Okay? Sam Norman: But because it doesn't get thrown around, it will last. And what about this thing? Vivienne Pringle: It's a feasting bowl basically. Again, has a suction and when you put the spoon in the bowl, it moves, and then when you touch the bottom of that, it gets louder and louder. And again, this will sort of encourage. I'm sure you play it with your young child the aeroplane game. Ooh! Watch out the aeroplane is coming. This is, you know -- that's making move. Price wise what would that be? Vivienne Pringle: I think this is 1299. Sam Norman: 1299. Vivienne Pringle: This comes out, goes in the dishwasher or the microwave and you just where the -- Sam Norman: You just get fed up with the noise and you just have a plain bowl. Vivienne Pringle: Yeah, and it turns up. Sam Norman: Oh, because I could see that, that could become irritating after a while. Vivienne Pringle: Exactly. I know. Sam Norman: Once you got the kid eating. Vivienne Pringle: Yes, again I would encourage him to do himself as well. Sam Norman: Yeah, not exactly. Now, the other thing, I mean this is sort of -- Vivienne Pringle: Now this. Sam Norman: Yes. Vivienne Pringle: I have every new mom has to have one of these. Yeah. Basically, baby weaning cubes. Sam Norman: Oh, well. Vivienne Pringle: What you do is, particularly nowadays with people being very keen on making their own food for their babies. If you make a whole batch, you want to store it in the freezer. And the trouble with putting it in conventionalized trays is when you take it out of the freezer, try defrost it and don't have and then it has to be come outs than you want. Sam Norman: Exactly. Vivienne Pringle: And that's not very hygienic. What these all individual cubes with lids. Sam Norman: Fantastic. Vivienne Pringle: With a little amount, I had to fill them up -- Sam Norman: That is a very, very good idea. Isn't it? Vivienne Pringle: Yeah. And they have very good values. Such a tube is 699. Sam Norman: Excellent. You would need more than two? Vivienne Pringle: No. No. I mean I know, lots of people go, and then, then use them for sources and things after it's -- Sam Norman: It maybe fantastic, I could use some even now. They are wonderful. Vivienne Pringle: Exactly. Sam Norman: What about these lovely looking blankets? Vivienne Pringle: These are called takkies and they come in various sizes and we also do book. Basically, it's for babies will all these lovely touchy feeling. Sam Norman: Lovely. They love the touchy blankets. Vivienne Pringle: They love these and they've also got texture as well as colors with different feels and different colors and designs in various sizes and this one bigger than this. Sam Norman: Like a girlie one. Vivienne Pringle: And as I said, books and you can get cushions all different things. Sam Norman: They're nice and good. I would like one to carry round. And also, I saw that you put a very interesting and I wish it had been invented when I had my children, when I was one. What is that? Is that --? Vivienne Pringle: Okay, what's that? It's called a hand bag high chair. Sam Norman: Handbag high chair. Vivienne Pringle: So, it folds up very neatly, and you can just put it in your nappy bag, or in your hung bag. And it just ties around basically you undo this 0:04:03 and you undo this belt and you tie this around the back of the chair, put the baby in. Does it well up again, when it's in a chair and I'll show you and the baby is secure? Sam Norman: How lovely? Vivienne Pringle: This is exclusive to Blooming Marvellous. Sam Norman: And the ice trays. So, did you invent them? Designed them rather? Vivienne Pringle: We designed them. Yes. I saw something like this in America and how brilliant. Why don't we get them in England? Sam Norman: How long have you been in doing that? Vivienne Pringle: I'm afraid 22 years, since my older son was born, fair long time. Sam Norman: Well, you're the one of the first company's to get into this sort of merchandize? Vivienne Pringle: We were actually, I mean we started the business with maternity wear in 1983 because Judy, she is my business partner and I was both pregnant at the same time. We couldn't find anything to wear. So, we started the maternity clothes and then about I suppose when then we started children, baby and childrens wear, and then about 10 years after we started, we started doing this, we put it and guess we walk, I mean a lots of people do it now, but we really were the one in the first. Sam Norman: And you the expert to give advice and what sort of product, I mean a lot of people are having to have babies on budgets these days. What items do you consider to be absolutely essential, if you're planning for a baby? Vivienne Pringle: Well, I think it's really important before you have the baby to make plan. Don't buy too much before the baby is born, but you basically have to sort of think about what do they are going to sleep in and what do they going to travel around, and just buy some basic baby grocers, and take them to the hospital. And more and more, I've seen nowadays people seem to know are they having, so it's easier, but just some simple baby grocer. Then, a sort of travel car, we got these amazing travel cards now that just fell down into a circle like this -- but you can again just put in the nappy bag because I always find the problem of how is the baby going to sleep, when I want to get about and about, and it'll literally just pops open a little matches inside and he is so safe and secure. Sam Norman: Fantastic. Vivienne Pringle: Yeah. And that 2999. Sam Norman: And that they're also exclusive to you. Vivienne Pringle: Yeah, we've got some nice collections. Sam Norman: Then I suppose, I mean I took that sort of legal essentials, I guess if you didn't have much money perhaps you have to forgo the travel cost. Vivienne Pringle: Yes. well, the real essentials; obviously, you need some kind of transport like a buggy, and then whats great now is you can get the buggies with the car seats, so the car seat goes on to the buggy, the chassis. Sam Norman: Right. Vivienne Pringle: So, you wont to be able to get it in the car as well or in an aeroplane or whatever. and sleeping you can put the baby either in a Moses basket or you can buy a cards, a full size card, make him sleep in that straight away, and then you didn't have to have these various stages of all different colors before you get a big one and they are perfectly happy going in a big car straight away. Sam Norman: This was so -- I mean do you still hang around a lot with babies or you know mothers with babies? Vivienne Pringle: I love babies and we do these gorgeous baby suits where I just got to cut on these. And I will say, it gives me an opportunity to talk moms about what they really need. What are the needs sort fashions coming through as far as they are concerned and what there missing, and then we can develop products for what they feel they need. Sam Norman: I've seen lots of articles recently about women who would become great business entrepreneurs inspired by becoming mothers. You one of the great pioneers of this one. Vivienne Pringle: We were. I mean when as I say when we were pregnant, really there was another care, which at the time I'm afraid was -- and there was I think one or two very expensive sort of french boutiques, but really nothing else, so we just wanted to carry on where what we'd always want, but adopted for the growing bump, and so I think we worked on it actually and it took a long time for other people to follow. Sam Norman: And how did you and your partner meet? Vivienne Pringle: We met to work actually, I was actually in advertising and she was in television, and then our boy friends were also in advertising. That's how we met. She is still my best friend. Sam Norman: Is she? Vivienne Pringle: Yeah. Sam Norman: It's amazing, friendship and business don't mix too well doing. Vivienne Pringle: Now, we've been very lucky, we still show in office and we've got identical sense of humors, I think that's right. Sam Norman: Alright, well congratulations and I just asked deal -- children. Vivienne Pringle: Thank you. Sam Norman: Thank you Vivienne. Thank you.
