Audra: For most of us who’ve seen the movie When Harry met Sally, right. Remember the scene in the restaurant, not that one, I’m actually talking about the one where Sally is ordering but she’ll have everything in a way that is not on the menu. Well, it could be a nerve wracking date. Our relationship experts Matt Titus and Tamsen Fadal here with some advice for all you custom orderers out there in today’s Ask Matt and Tamsen. Matt: Hey everybody, Matt and Tamsen here taking your love and relationship questions on the road. Tamsen: That’s right. Today we’re coming to you from Sara Beth’s Restaurant and Coffee Bar at Lord and Taylor on 5th Avenue. Okay today’s question, “Dear Matt and Tamsen, my new girlfriend has this horrible habit when we go out to eat. She never likes the table that the host first chooses then finding a table that suits her is like a house hunting for most people then when we sit down, she custom orders and tortures the poor wait staff with ridiculous requests. I’m ready to order and help.” Matt: Oh my. Is that you? Tamsen: No it’s not. Did you write this question about me? Matt: No. Tamsen: Alright, well we feel your pain. That’s for sure. Matt: I’m the one that feels the pain. Let me tell you something, not so much with the choosing the table, remember Harry Met Sally, well I am married to Sally I guess because she just sits there and she’s a custom orderer and custom orderers are annoying, Tamsen. Tamsen: But I don’t think that’s a sign of things to come. I think some people just want things they want to, I think you have to be patient. This is a new girlfriend, maybe she’s trying to eat healthy and maybe she’s trying to show you that she’s a healthy person and she takes care of herself, maybe she just doesn’t want to order fries right off the menu. Matt: I get the solution, listen to it. Just try to make sure that the table sorter somewhere in the middle of the restaurant where she couldn’t hate it because she’s sitting right in the middle of everything and you know what, give her the menu a little earlier before you get there. Let her know what’s there so she can pre select so you’re not tortured. Tamsen: So you’re not hiding underneath the table. Anyway, give her a chance, she can be nervous, too, this is a new girlfriend, she’s just trying to impress you. Matt: Were you nervous after three years? Tamsen: I’m still nervous. Give her a chance, you know, I mean really some people just go what they want and I think that’s okay. Matt: Alright, fine. Tamsen: Alright, this is Matt and Tamsen folks until next time.
