Age Erasers for Men Better Audra: You know as women will do just about anything to stop the aging process, but guess what girls men also want to slow down the ticking clock as well. Joel Weber is the author of Age Erasers for men. He’s also the Senior Associate Editor of Men’s Health Magazine and Joel is here today to help give us great tips for the real men out there who want to feel younger, look younger, right. Joel: Absolutely. Yeah, very true. Audra: Guys want to do the same thing to. Joel: Yeah absolutely, I mean no one really wants to look older or feel older and the goal of really this book is trying to help people stay young. Audra: Okay and before we get into the tips, can any of this tips be used for women too? Joel: Yeah some of them can. You’re not going to want to you know take a razor to your face but yeah. Audra: Exactly we’ll get to that in just a second too but the first tip you have is about the eyes making yourself look younger. Joel: Yeah and actually they’ve done eye scanning studies on people and when you look at someone most of your attention actually focuses around their eyes and that’s where we kind of come up with how old someone is in our lives. Audra: Judging that, right? Joel: Yeah exactly, yeah. Audra: So there’s one product in particular made by L’Oreal that you say helps for guys. Joel: Yeah and really like any product can do this as long as it contains some ingredient called Retinol and so look at through ingredients a lot of those have that and if you really have a lot of wrinkles emerging around your eyes go to a doctor, a dermatologist and get a prescription for a product called Retin-A and that ahs been proven— study, after study show that if you use it at night religiously it will take away ripples. Audra: And we should mention these are really good for people if you’re over 50 or 80 and even your 40’s because that when you’re in your 20s you’re shedding a lot more. Joel: And really yeah, the production of collagen in your skin when you’re 20 it’s about every two weeks it recycles itself. By the time you’re 40 it slows down to about once a month that’s how dramatic that is. Audra: Wow. Okay. Joel: So but really in your 20’s and 30’s you can really start planning ahead for the steps you look better when you’re, and your 40’s and 50’s. Audra: Right and who knew also you said that you could shave every single morning. Joel: Yeah shaving is a great way just to remove that old skin and replenish your collagen. Audra: Okay, I would have thought the exact opposite, that would even worsen your skin. Joel: Yeah and well and the craziest thing about shaving everyday is a cream shave will actually make you look 5-1/2 years younger than a full beard will. Audra: Wow interesting. You also got to get a lot of sleep too. We know this is important. Joel: Sleep is amazing; it’s just one of the best age erasers. We talk a lot about that more in the book, but if you’re having problems sleeping one of the best ways to get around that is to have carbs with dinner or to wake up in the middle of the night drink some cherry juice or also the yogurt product called Kefir and both of those have natural compounds and that will help you go back to sleep. Audra: I’m writing all this down. I don’t care if it’s for men. I’m writing it all down. Joel: That’s a great one for women as well. Audra: Okay and we know that having a good laugh also helps too but it’s really, really important right? Joel: It’s amazing. Basically, it helps your heart. It helps your mental acuity, everything about it is really even the inch as a patient of a laugh will do good things for your body and help you feel younger. Audra: Okay a couple of other tips so we can try to get in here. It’s explore the opposites do things backwards. Joel: I love this one. It’s really something that people don’t think about but if you’re, say you are going to the store and you got that long to-do list and you just blink. Start comparing things opposite so if you need eggs in the stand, picture a stamp on an egg; you’ll remember both of them that way. Another thing that you can do is brush your teeth with your non-dominant hands so if you’re right handed use your left. Audra: Oh wow. Joel: Or jog backwards. All those things stimulate the neural connections in your brain. Audra: Okay look at that. Joel: And makes you use your brain in different ways that you would have otherwise done. Audra: Okay and the last but not least if you got in on this one too, keep up the sex life, even if you’re in your 50’s, 60’s you got to act like you are at your 20’s. Joel: Keep doing it, there’s no Better way to feel younger than just to have a great sex life.
