2012 Nissan Leaf Electric Car This is Bumper 2 Bumper TV. Greg Morrison: It’s almost here, the latest generation of electric cars for the masses. Nissan is betting its battery only power source system developed for the Leaf would be a winner as main stream car shift from concept to real world use of zero emission vehicles. And of course, to concept gets praise from political leaders who want to clean up the air. Mayor Kasim Reed: Progress is being made with national, state and our regional partners to improve the city’s transportation infrastructure. There’s no doubt we’re moving in the right direction and people are coming home to Atlanta. Between the year 2000 and 2010, more than 100,000 people moved back into the city of Atlanta and technologies - were deployed today will help us sustain and improve our air quality. Greg Morrison: To make a Leaf for any electric car available, there’s a need for a lot more of these. There are electric recharging stations at homes and in the work place creating a new stream of business for local utility companies. But what’s it like to drive? Of course the mayor and high ranking officials of the local power company got the first chance to test drive at Leaf. Then, some reporters got in and put it to the city driving paces. And we did behave for the most part. Well, like anyone else, we wanted what it can do when a lot of acceleration is needed to merge into traffic. The Leaf users drive by wire technology for the transmission and a familiar look and set of displays on the instrument panel to let the driver know what’s going on under the hood. Well, the battery is the primary source of power. The car also has a solar panel to convert sunlight to electricity. With an average of effective range of about 60 miles, the electric Leaf can work for most daily commuters. Generous, federal, and some state income taxes centers are available to offset the purchase place. The auto industry would oppose in monitoring in other electric cars to see what segment of the marker they can really attract. This is Greg Morrison.
