2009 Ford F-150s Bed Features Hi, I’m Joe Wiensenfelder from Cars.com. I’m at the Detroit Auto Show right now with the F-150 pickup truck from Ford. You’ll notice the big bulging Ford badge, it’s not just for look, it’s because the backup camera is down here, the backup camera is an option. What’s important to know about this is it’s not dependent on a navigation system. You can now get it as a standalone option for just over 400 bucks. It’s a lot better than paying 2000 for a navigation system just so you can see what’s behind you. Another option are four branded secure tool boxes that mount on the inside of the cargo bed. They are obviously lockable, water resistant. If you have trouble reaching this or you have trouble reaching something else in the bed which is something owners complained about, 2004, Ford made the back’s height much higher to increase the volume. Unfortunately, it made it harder to reach in. The new solution is the step. You click the button and you get a 10-inch high step so you can reach inside. This is the bed extender, you’ve probably seen this before but they’re usually a solid piece, so they either have to be here or they have to be on the inside. But because that separates in the middle and folds, you can also have it completely out of the way. Also, there's a new track system right here like you’ve seen on other pickup trucks, this is the spring loaded pin system. So, it’s really easy to do, you don’t have to unscrew a big knob or anything like that. Now, another trick borrowed from the 250 is a step in the tail gate. Once you have a step down, you raise this. It gives you something to hold on to. I am not going to try this. For additional information on this car or any other, go to cars.com and our blog, Kicking Tires.
