BUMPER 2 BUMPER TV Male Speaker: This is Bumper 2 Bumper TV. Greg Morrison: This is the vehicle that not only saved a company, it also defined a generation of people who bought, rented, or used one. Well maybe not this version of the Chrysler town and country, but maybe something like this which debuted in 1984, or maybe this from 1988, or this from the late 1990s, or maybe these after 20 years of production. The Minivan was the preferred choice of so much so that nearly every other automaker followed eventually with their own version of one. So now with the latest addition of the platform Chrysler has decided to kick it up and notch, so to speak. Like other players in the segment the town and country offers fold flat third row seating, but wait a minute what is this rear facing seats. No, they are just second row seats -- along with the space to accommodate a small table. Chrysler actually offered this technology in the 1950s, but it didn't seem to work in their large Sedans at the time. Undaunted the design is also have stepped up the entertainment options with the radio and satellite TV configuration that offers multiple screens to keep passengers in all roads happy on long trips. One thing that is a good move for these units is the 4 liter V6 engine under the hood, along with an automatic gearbox. For now the company is sticking with the basic front wheel drive platform having learned from bitter experience that Minivan owners really don't want or need four-wheel drive capability. We've found in a week of routine driving it has good enough road manage to become an easy fit. However don't look for compact or even mid-size Sedan fuel efficiency in this vehicle, that's a trade off for being able to carry up to seven passengers, who can be well entertained for short or long trips.
